My 2024 Review of the Year and looking forward to 2025...
Now that 2024 has drawn to a close it has given us time to reflect on the ups and downs we have all endured across the last year.
In some ways 2024 was again for most of us a tough year, the ‘Cost of Living’ has continued to play a major part in all of our lives.
The cost of Energy, Food as well as Inflation which is still rising and currently at 2.6% all continues to be a problem. I have again this year been constantly concerned about how families in the Cumnock and New Cumnock Ward are coping with these continued pressures.
However I have also been involved and attended so much across the Ward this year though that has been positive, a few of the highlights of 2024 for me were:
Cumnock History Group’s 10th Birthday Celebration.
The Coalfield Communities Landscape Partnership ‘Lost Villages’ Book Launch.
CAMPS ‘Sunshine on Leith’ Production.
The launch of the Netherthird Community Action Plan.
The opening of the Temporary Cumnock Banking Hub in Cumnock Library.
Cumnock Community Council’s Carnival 2024.
The Woodroad Park & Leisure Group's Family Fun Day 2024.
The Cumnock Tryst’s 10th Anniversary Celebrations.
Learning about the work of the New Cumnock Walkways Group.
Playing Bingo with the New Cumnock Afternoon Tea Group.
The CAMPS’s Community Pantomime - ‘The Wizard of OZ!’.
Looking forward to 2025, I will continue to work to ensure that the Council continues to do everything it can to help hard pressed families and people in our area. I will also work towards ensuring we have the best possible local services at the lowest possible cost and will fight to keep Council Tax Rises in 2025 low.
I will continue to push for enhancement and increased Community Events in Woodroad Park as well as giving my continued support to our local community groups across the ward from Cumnock to New Cumnock and Netherthird to Ochiltree.
I wish everyone a Happy and Prosperous New Year, let us hope that 2025 is much better for us all than 2024.
