New statistics have revealed declines in attainment in schools across literacy, reading numeracy and listening and talking since 2018-19.
These devastating figures expose a reality which could not be more different from the SNP’s self-congratulatory spin. Primary results are getting worse on every measure while fewer than half of our most deprived children obtain a single university entrance level qualification.
The Education Secretary ought to take a break from patting herself on the back and focus instead on driving up standards in our schools and closing the attainment gap.
